Early this year, Lagos State University (LASU) best graduating student, Oladimeji Shotunde got a whopping 5 million Naira and a post-graduate scholarship from Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State. Being an indigene of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun again gifted him a 2-bedroom flat and 2 million Naira.
Sadly, in recent news, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) best graduating students have been asked to share a meager N1500 and N1000 among themselves.
Both the university and governor of the state have now come under fire for not valuing academic excellence.
Tell us, do you think this is a sign that the university does not value academic excellence? Do you think the graduates are better off with a job than 1500 to share among themselves?
